Different Season. Same Vision and Values

“See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it? I am making a way in the wilderness and streams in the wasteland.”
‭‭Isaiah‬ ‭43‬:‭19‬ ‭

It’s funny how you come to realize that the more some things change, the more they somehow remain the same. I found myself reflecting quite a bit recently after leaving an interview where the interviewer probed deeply into my childhood.

Maybe there are still parts of my earlier life that I haven’t fully healed from; because even now, I can’t seem to talk about my childhood without getting teary eyed. In hindsight, back then, I couldn’t talk about my future without experiencing those same emotions. The little girl in me fought daily to hold on to the hope that a better quality of life could one day become my reality. Today, the woman I have become prays daily for the wisdom to be a responsible steward of all that God has blessed me with along the journey.

Different season! Different prayers!

Both seasons with the same deep sense of hope, self-belief, faith, and an unwavering conviction that God holds the master plan for my life.

Today, as I reflect on the little girl who prayed, hoped, fought and refused to give up and now look at the woman I have become, I am filled with a heart overflowing with gratitude.

Living Answered Prayers

Ever so often, I ask God to ease the weight of the pressure I both face and feel; but then I quickly remind myself that I must also accept that the pressure is connected to the purpose He placed over my life. A sharp reminder that to whom much is given, much is expected.

“the weight of being the first or still being the only can many times feel like a burden.”

This quote really resonated with me. Given my humble beginnings and the level of personal and professional growth and success that I have achieved along the way, I honestly feel like I have a real responsibility to always model the way, and this keeps me grounded. This conviction shows up in my leadership, the work I do as a Founder of Boss Ladies United and while engaging with my family, friends and even across my social media platforms. In this season of my life, the obligation I feel to be a good steward of my gifts and spheres of influence, runs deep.

Embracing My Becoming

Far beyond the struggle to secure a better quality of life and livelihood, perhaps the greatest hurdle I now face is the one within. The inner struggle that challenges me whenever I allow myself to embrace even a glimpse of peace and satisfaction from acknowledging just how far I have come and how much I have overcome along the way.

The kind of peace that comes from finally accepting that I no longer have to over-prove myself to earn a space in the room or carry guilt for becoming the person I once prayed to be. That I can honour where I came from without feeling guilty about how far God has allowed me to go.

I now accept that I am allowed to embrace being chosen to break generational barriers, while having the courage to step fully and unapologetically into my God-given calling.

Perhaps this season is no longer about me fighting to survive, but learning to be at peace with the life, purpose, gifts and person that emerged from the fight.

Finally accepting the woman I have become makes me realize that inner peace is a gift from God and it comes through the process of evolving.  It’s when you go beyond knowing your worth, to finally accepting the person you have become on the journey.

It’s about knowing who you truly are and liking what you see…
